Grotesquely lyrical cabaret
South Specific 2026 – festival premiere
A site-specific theater performance where laughter is not a safety net, but rather an echo of the fall. Cabaret Hrzán, balancing between farce and tragedy, returns as the narrator of his own destiny. Through alternating perspectives, the production team, assembled especially for this play, attempts to uncover the legend of Hrzán as a comedian and bohemian, but also to portray him as a being full of existential anxiety. The production should mix real memories, dreams, improvisation, and ideally some songs that Hrzán performed as an actor. Emphasis will also be placed on the documentary aspect, which will raise the question of what it actually means to be "Hrzán" – what remains in our heritage, what is passed on, and what is newly "created" from our personal search.
