A native of Milan, Antonello Allemandi studied piano, composition and conducting at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory. Nowadays he ranks among the elite of European conductors. He focuses his attention especially on French and Italian orchestral works. He has conducted at the Vienna State Opera, the Opera Bastille in Paris, The Royal Opera House Covent Garden, the Bavarian State Opera, the Teatro Real in Madrid, the Moscow Bolshoi Theatre and the New York Metropolitan Opera, specialising in 18th – 20th century Italian and French opera. His greatest accomplishments include Bellini’s I Puritani in Vienna, Tosca in Paris, Don Carlos in Madrid, Rossini's La Cenerentola at the Metropolitan Opera and Massenet’s Werther in Berlin. His opera recordings can be found on the Nuova Era, Opera Rara and Dynamic labels (Donizetti’s Alina, Mercadante’s Maria Stuarda, Verdi’s Ernani and others).
