Martin Peschík

Martin Peschík studied piano and conducting at the Conservatory in České Budějovice. He graduated from the department of conducting at the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno, where his teacher was Professor Jan Zbavitel. He has conducted at the National Theatre in Brno, the Moravian Philharmonic of Olomouc, the South Bohemian Chamber Philharmonic, the West Bohemian Symphonic Orchestra in Mariánské Lázně among others. Employed at the South Bohemian Theatre since 2002, first as choir master and conductor, and then as chief conductor since January 2008, he has produced a number of operas, operettas and ballets here including Rigoletto, Faust, The Elixir of Love, The Kiss, Marta, Rusalka, The Jacobin, The Gypsy Baron, Die Fledermaus and The Csárdás Princess. He has conducted in a number of European countries (Germany, Austria, Sweden, Norway, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Denmark) and at leading music festivals (Janáček’s Brno 2004, Opera 2003 and 2005, the Český Krumlov Chamber Music Festival etc.)
